Description:

Hi Ken,
Hillary made a smart decision and the money should be put for a right cause, in this case “charity“.

I think charities tend not to look a gift horse in the mouth. After all, would they accept charity from an anonymous donor? I would, if I were managing a charitable organization.
Hilary can/must not accept "tainted" money due to political considertions

that charities are not burdened with.

Thanks for the comments. True, that the concerns for a candidate are different than the concerns for a charity, but charities have to be careful, never-the-less, about not bringing on negative associations.

Still safe and healthy? Yes. I assume they're not serving Taco Bell on the premises. (Although, who can say these days.)
Hillary's slush fund probably won't go to Christian Conservative charities, so I'm not really one to give an opinion on whether
more...
a charity favored by a liberal is likely to question the source of those funds.
But I will, anyway. Yes, they will accept the donation without question. The easiest rationale would be that those specific funds are not included in the donation in question. Any statement that they are is simply to satisfy the question of dispersal of those funds. (Speaking as someone willing to adopt whatever rationale is necessary to justify questionable circumstances - not that they would be questionable to me, seeing as I've already justified them.) (And, yes, my tax exempt status has come through, and any donations will be put to good use.)
It's probably safe to say that Boy's and Girl's Club is not one of your clients, so do we get to hear the opinion of someone with experience in the field?

Here's an example of how clean money to one group could be dirty money to another:
Say Seagram's wants to give out a few large gifts to MADD and to MOMA.
MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) will probably tell them to take their money to Hell with them.
But the Museum of Modern Art will probably gladly take the money and name a wing after them.
And both would be correct decisions.

Hilary's tainted money is as unlikely to go to something overly political or controversial in either direction (abortion rights or the NRA) - it will probably go to something everybody agrees is good ... like the Boys and Girls Clubs of America...
And
more...
most will probably take it, not because they've rationalized or justified it, but because they haven't bothered to think about it at all.
As to my advice to clients - It is to think about these things, and set gift acceptance policies, before it happens. Don't wait for a controversial donor to show up with a check and then decide. Be proactive and set a policy, "We won't accept money contrary to our mission and that includes money from booze, fast food, whatever."
I can't say that Boys and Girls Clubs of America made a mistake here - I just wonder how much they discussed it before they cashed the check.
