4 Tips For Making Your Home Appliances Last Longer

Blog

25 Mar

Your home appliances are something that you use every day as an essential part of your life. Not only do they make life easier, but they keep your family life running. When one of them is out of order, it can bring your daily flow to a halt. On top of the inconvenience, you also have to pay a considerable amount to get them repaired, or worse, replace them altogether. It’s in your best interest to make them last as long as possible.

Take a look at some of the best practical tips for extending the lifespan of your home appliances.

Clean Your Air Conditioner

Your air conditioner is one of your most prized possessions during the warmer months. When its hot outside, you need to make sure that your home keeps you cool. One of the best ways to keep your AC running smoothly is to make sure that you clean out the dirt regularly.

It’s fairly simple to do yourself; however, if you start to see significant issues like ice freezing over parts of the unit, you should probably call a professional.

Clean Your Fridge Coils

If you thought only wiping out the insides of your vegetable drawers occasionally was all you needed to do to keep your fridge up and running, you were mistaken. It’s important that you clean out the condenser coils. Failing to do so could affect your refrigerator’s ability to keep your food cool.

An overheated motor will lead to your fridge breaking down in no time. You should do this at least once a year by using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.

Don’t Overload Your Washing Machine

We get it; nobody loves laundry day. In order to avoid having to do laundry every day, many people leave it until the end of the week and stuff their washing machine full. The problem is, in your attempt to reduce your laundry tasks, you’re wearing out the life of your appliance.

Overloading your machine will eventually cause it to run down. Only load it with the recommended amount of weight provided by the manufacturer.

Clean Your Dishwasher Filter

Most people are so used to having a dishwasher that they don’t know the pain of having to handwash dishes for long periods of time. However, once you’re faced with no longer having a dishwasher to do all of your washing, you start to realize what a great thing it really was. When you have a big family, a lack of dishwasher can throw your life for a loop.

Do yourself a favor, and don’t risk your dishwasher running down. Make sure that you clean the filter regularly so that it won’t get clogged and break down prematurely!
