5 Fun Ways to Take a Break from Backpacking

Blog· Lifestyle

30 May

Backpacking is a wonderful way to see the world. You develop a real sense of a country and its people by spending an extended period in a destination and learn as much about yourself in the process; however, the positives of backpacking can lose their shine after a little while. Sometimes you just want to be able to kick back without having to share your room with 10 other backpackers in the hostel. Prepare a meal without having to clean the dishes before you use them – and of course, use a clean bathroom. Here are 5 fun ways to take a break from backpacking.

  1. Go to a hairstylist

You may be having to count the pennies, and spend most of your time looking bedraggled, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t take a break from it all and book in with a hairstylist. For just a couple of hours, you can be pampered and preened and feel like a million dollars at the end of it. Make sure that you are able to communicate with your stylist effectively as to what you want!

  1. Go on vacation

Yes, you are already on a vacation, but how about booking yourself into a resort for a vacation from backpacking. You will be able to have a break from the stress of living in multiple occupancy environment – plus a double bed, clean sheets and pillows, a private bathroom – all things that you take for granted back home but sure miss when you are backpacking. Check out visitfrenchlickwestbaden.com to see what you can experience when you are exploring the Midwest, just a couple of days will restore you!

  1. Volunteer

One aspect of homelife that you more than likely didn’t expect to miss is having a routine. Being out of a routine can make every day blur into one, and make you feel like you are wasting time. Identify any volunteering opportunities that may be able to be performed. Not only will you find that you benefit from having a routine again, but it will be a valuable addition to your CV that future employers will be impressed by.

  1. Go off the beaten track

Sure, you will have your bucket-list of destinations that you want to visit, but so too will legions of other backpackers. Seek out the lesser known destinations that will surprise you and satisfy your wanderlust. Go off the beaten track and find new places to explore that aren’t in the guides. Ask local people where they go to chill out and enjoy being a rare overseas tourist. Remember though to keep safe!

  1. Choose different places to visit

You may not be religious in your ordinary life and not attend a place of worship or think of a library as a go-to source of entertainment but visiting places that are not usually on your radar can bring you a sense of peace and tranquility even just for a few hours. The quietness and stillness can give you time to reflect on your travels and give you the opportunity to get your head together. Fun does not just equal beach bars and music, fun can mean developing a new perception.

Backpacking is your opportunity to explore the world, but it can be exhausting. Take time out from being footloose and fancy-free by pampering yourself and reconnecting. Relaxing away from the hostel environment and benefit from tranquility – even for a limited time.
