According to Forbes, the world’s top 100 highest paid celebrities made a total of $5.15 billion last year.
The highest paid celebrity last year was Diddy, real name Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur, who pulled in a record $130 million. The 48-year old celebrity had the best year in his career last year.
American singer and actress BeyoncÈ was number two on the list, making $105 million, and J.K. Rowling, the British novelist who is best known for writing the Harry Potter fantasy series, made $95 million.
If the numbers sounds too small to someone, it’s not the overall rich-list earnings, but list of top-earning front-of-camera entertainers in the world.
So besides Diddy, BeyoncÈ and Rowling, who else managed to make it big last year? Musician Drake, athlete Cristiano Ronaldo, musician The Weeknd, and radio/tv personality Howard Stern all also managed to be right at or higher than the $90 million line.
In the end of the top 100 list you can find Swedish athlete Zlatan Ibrahimovic with $32 million in earnings, comedian Kevin Hart and musician Jason Aldean both with $32.5 million in earnings, and athlete Carmelo Anthony with $32.6 million in earnings.
Note that all the numbers here are Forbes’ estimation based on data from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo, Songkick, D’Marie, IMDB, NPD Bookscan, Pollstar. And the earnings are before taxes, and before paying their managers, lawyers, and anyone else.
While you might not be a celebrity yourself, if you decided to play powerball and win a jackpot this year, you might be able to make more than any of them. Although the chances are not too high for winning Powerball jackpot, the biggest winnings are times higher than what any of those celebrities made last year.
