Traditionally speaking, women, more than men are the ones who take pride in what they wear, and how fashionable they look. This however is something which is changing rapidly and in the last few years, more and more men are looking to keep up with what is stylish, and what looks good. Personally speaking, I know nothing about fashion and generally play it safe in terms of what I wear, something which I was looking to change recently. After having chat with my fashionista buddy Greg Lindae, I decided to change my look and approach fashion in a different way. Here then are some tips on how you can become more stylish, if fashion isn’t really your thing.
Look and Learn
One of the first places to start when you are looking to become more stylish, is on the street. Much of this comes down to awareness, once you start thinking more abut style, you start to become a lot ore receptive to the style choices which other people are making. Just wandering about town, you will see a great many different styles and looks, some good, some bad, and some which you could think about adopting yourself. Look for men who have a similar body shape to you, see what they are wearing, and try to replicate it next time you go shopping.
Magazines
Thanks to the surge in recent years of men’s fashion, there are a large number of both print magazines and online magazines which are dedicated to men’s style. Using these magazines you can not only get inspirational ideas, but you can find out where to buy the clothes that you see. What many of these magazines will do, is that they will show you the original, high value fashion piece, and then tell you which high street shops are selling similar items.
Ask Opinions
There is nothing wrong with asking for people’s opinions when you are trying something new, as long as you can trust them to be honest, and constructive with any criticism which they may have. Asking someone who doesn’t want to hurt your feelings will not help you, nor will someone who just wants to nock you down a peg or two. The key is to ask people that you can trust to give you an honest opinion.
Trying it Out
The best way to upgrade your style is to simply give a few different looks a try, very often you may not think that they look good in front of the mirror, but this can often be just because it is different. The best bet is to take a risk and try a style out for a few days to see if you feel comfortable with it. Don’t be afraid of changing your look, people may make comments but the key is to feel great with your style choice, this breeds confidence which in turn, will ensure that you make the style your own.
