The experts at Optima Tax Relief review how this program can save you money.
It may be hard to believe, but tax season is right around the corner. As millions of Americans begin the process of preparing their taxes, the experts at Optima Tax Relief reviews how the IRS Free File program can save money for millions of American taxpayers, especially those that will be including dependents on their 2019 tax filing.
The IRS Free File program was incepted in 2003 with the goal of easing the tax preparation process and costs for the millions of families with young children in their households who meet the gross income requirements. The hallmark of this program is to provide low or no preparation fees to certain families with young dependents at just $30. The program is a joint partnership between the IRS and 10 different online tax preparation software providers.
Through the Free File program, taxpayers meeting the requirements for participation can prepare and file their federal individual income tax return either at a very low cost or for free using one of the many designated tax preparation and filing software partners. In order to be eligible for free online tax preparation through the Free File program, families must have an adjusted gross income of $69,000 or less. The program, which is fully mobile-enabled, also helps identify tax credits and deductions, and other potential tax benefits.
Since the partnership began, the IRS Free File program has serviced over 57 million taxpayers, resulting in over $1.7 billion in savings. “Free File can save young families money. It offers free software, free electronic filing and free direct deposit which is the fastest way to get a refund,” said Ken Corbin, commissioner of the IRS Wage and Investment Division.
Free File is now available at IRS.gov/freefile.
