When it comes to organizing our homes, one of the more important things is the amount of storage space there is. Whether your home is a one-bedroom apartment or a four-bedroom house, storage is always welcomed. We have some great tips and tricks to maximize the space in your home with our storage solutions.
Built-in storage
Built-in storage is always a great option. While it does come with a higher price tag, it does utilize all of the space in your home and bring many benefits. Built-in storage uses all of the space you want, so if, for example, you want built-in wardrobes in the bedroom, it can use all of the areas from the floor to the ceiling – no more wasted space on top of the wardrobe.
Storage container in the garden
If the house is running out of space, another great option is to build a storage container in the garden or on any land you own. Storage containers have come a long way from garden sheds, and you can now find units big enough to store your car during winter or smaller ones for your bicycles or storage boxes. These units are perfect if you have an area in your garden that isn’t being used.
Smart storage
If you don’t have any space in your home for built-in storage, nor do you have any space in your garden for an external unit, the next best thing is smart storage furniture. Getting clever with different furniture in your home is an affordable way to create more storage at home. Some smart storage hacks include:
- Make rooms multifunctional: Having rooms that have two purposes can free up not just storage, but also space in your home. For example, have your home office double as a spare room with a sofa bed.
- Choosing your bed wisely: Instead of having a bed frame and different boxes stored underneath it, you can get beds with built-in storage beds. From divan beds with built-in drawers to frames where the mattress lifts giving you amazing access to the space underneath.
- Install shelves along the perimeter: Instead of having shelves underneath each other taking up more wall space, having them next to each other going along the perimeter of the wall will free up more wall space.
Don’t forget about the attic
The attic is not just great for storing old college jerseys and yearbooks, it can be used for so much more: An attic conversion. How about turning that dusty spacing into an amazing area such as a living room or games room – or even another bedroom. You can add a skylight to fill the room with sunlight and make it a cozy little space for all of the family.
Whether you want to make some renovations to your home, or simply add some smart furniture, there are many ways you can create storage in your home.
