The Most Common Bathroom Problems (And How to Repair Them)

Decor

24 Sep

A bathroom should serve as a luxurious haven away from the rest of the home. It should be the one place where you can go to enjoy some privacy and relaxation.

However, issues can arise that can turn your tranquil oasis into a nightmare, which could be due to faulty plumbing or a poor design. Read about the most common bathroom problems and how to repair them below.

A Lack of Hot Water

It can be disappointing to turn on a shower or bathtub faucet to discover there is no hot water. If you have installed an electric shower, it could be caused by an electrical fault, which is why you should test other faucets across the home before you call a plumber. If, however, all the water sources are cold, the problem likely stems from your water heater.

A Leak

While one day your faucet or pipes might be working perfectly, the next day you could experience an unwanted leak that could flood your home. If you experience a large or small leak, you should immediately call a qualified plumber to rectify the problem.

Never attempt to tackle a leakage yourself, or you could exacerbate the issue. If your home experiences water damage following a leak in the bathroom, you should immediately hire a water restoration service to both clean and restore your home.

Mold and Mildew

If your bathroom experiences untreated water damage or doesn’t receive the appropriate ventilation, it is likely mold and mildew will start to grow. It cannot only impact your home’s structural integrity, but it can also agitate various allergies and can lead to the development of upper respiratory problems. It is, therefore, important to routinely ventilate your bathroom and to organize a restoration service should the room experience water damage.

Clogged Drains

Lodged hair and debris can lead to clogged drains, which can prevent water from leaving a sink, bath, or shower quickly or can stop it from draining altogether. To remedy the problem, you will need to use a plunger to eradicate the unwanted items in a drain. You also can flush them away using drainage products and hot water.

A Running Toilet

If your toilet is constantly running, this can lead to a high water bill each month. To quickly fix it, look inside the tank, as the flapper chain might be stuck or the water could be too high. If you’re unsure how to resolve the problem, call a dependable plumber to identify the issue and repair your toilet as soon as possible, which can protect your finances.

Poor Water Pressure in Your Shower

Are you becoming increasingly frustrated by your bathroom’s poor water pressure? It is likely caused by a buildup of limescale. You will be happy to know it is a quick and easy fix. All you must do is use a descaling solution to scrub your showerhead, or you might need to replace it altogether to restore its pressure.
