If you’d love to get through winter without developing a single cold or flu, simply continue reading to discover how these cold remedies you can reduce your chances of falling ill this winter!

How to reduce your chances of getting sick this winter:

  1. Invest in purchasing a warm, waterproof jacket

If you live in a city which gets particularly cold during winter, it’s well worth opting for a model which reaches your knees and which will provide you with adequate protection from the cold. As you’re far more likely to get sick during winter if you don’t dress warmly enough and go outside without any protection from the elements such as rain and wind.

When choosing a waterproof jacket it’s also advisable to select a jacket which has room for you to layer a sweater underneath.

  1. Layer up when you plan to spend time outdoors

You’ll also decrease your chances of coming down with a nasty cold or flu if you layer up when you plan on spending time walking around outdoors. As an example pair a warm jacket with a wool hat, a scarf and a pair of gloves.

  1. Make sure to consume plenty of fresh produce during winter

While you may be more likely to consume fresh produce during the warm summer months, it’s well worth ensuring to eat five servings of fresh produce a day as fresh produce is packed full of vitamins and nutrients which will help you boost your immunity levels. Which in turn will decrease your chances of contracting a cold or flu.

As an example, you can’t go wrong stocking up on oranges as oranges are packed full of Vitamin C, which has been proved to increase individual’s immunity levels.

  1. Exercise 4-6 times a week throughout the winter season

While it may be far harder to drag yourself to your local gym in winter or to go for a run around your neighborhood if you make an effort to work out several times a week, you’ll also boost your immunity. This is one reason why professional athletes hardly get sick compared to normal men and women.

  1. Make sure to get plenty of vitamin D

On warm sunny winter days, make sure to head outside to enjoy 10-15 minutes of sunshine, which will also boost your immunity and decrease your chances of developing a cold or flu.

  1. Try to work from home, when your colleagues turn up to work sick

If you work in an office environment, it’s well worth asking your boss whether you can work from home when members of your team turn up to work sick. As if sick individuals cough and splutter in your office, the same air which they’ve contaminated will be recycled through your office due to your building’s air conditioning unit.

So if you work from home, you’ll be far less likely to pick up your colleagues’ illnesses. Which will also be beneficial to your company. As if you’re unable to work efficiently due to contracting an illness, your company will be affected by your decreased work rate.

So if you’d love to survive winter without getting sick, simply use all six health tips listed above to decrease your chances of getting sick this winter.
