North American Licensure Pharmacist Examination is a standardized test given to recently completed college students in pharmacy shortly after receiving their degree. The exam is made and regulated by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). The examination by design is popular and a standard measure of getting the best pharmacists from different colleges. Due to the various examinations and teaching methods in separate colleges, this examination gives the employer pool a comparative scale of people from different learning backgrounds when tested by one exam. Some institutions may have more straightforward examinations while others difficult ones.
Taking and passing a naplex exam is a big deal for most students. It heavily determines one’s future and career success. Most people strive to pass the exam on the first try, while others do not mind giving it in the long run, no matter how many times they try taking the exam. Different mentalities and goals may vary. However, the mistakes that people make leading to failure in the exams are usually almost the same. Here are some of the mistakes made when preparing for or taking the NAPLEX exam.
Not Taking The Exam Seriously
Some people think that their degrees should do them just fine and that a naplex exam is some sort of supplementary grade. This doesn’t seem right and leads to several people failing in the exam. Not taking the exam seriously means that the person will not prepare well and will do the exam without much thought and finesse. The NAPLEX is a crucial part of all aspiring pharmacists and should be taken seriously.
Not Studying Early Enough
The NAPLEX has a lot of content, if not all, from what people study for in their degrees. However, this doesn’t mean that the examination will be straightforward. Proper preparation should be done for the exam if one wants to pass. Taking on NAPLEX study material and starting to study early enough will help in success.
Missing A Lot of Calculation Questions
One mistake that people tend to ignore is math. Someone may study and understand all the theory hoping that it will accumulate enough points. However, missing a large chunk of mathematical questions can lead to a candidate failing in the exams. Math needs a lot of practice, and doing so will increase the chance of a student passing.
Side Effect Knowledge Deficit
Pharmacy, in general, can be defined as the study of the administration of drugs. There are different kinds of sick people with various conditions but the same illness. Side effects will always be tested and should ever be known as wrong administration of drugs without considering side effects that can be fatal to patients. Always be equipped with knowledge on side effects.
Not Finishing the Exam
Not finishing the exam can be due to giving up too early or lack of proper time management. Both of those instantaneously lead to a fail. Completing the examination should be a top priority, as retaking the exam is not as easy as it may seem. The NAPLEX exam is an essential examination for all potential pharmacists.
