Disney Plus has found a solid footing in the streaming industry after its launch in November 2019. The on-demand, ad-free streaming service amassed over 10 million subscribers on the first day, and within two months of its opening, it already had 28.6 million sign ups in the US alone.
Disney Plus airs your favorite TV shows and films from Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, and Marvel. They have monthly and yearly subscriptions, and you can even bundle up your subscription with Hulu and ESPN+.
We have outlined some tricks and tips to help you thoroughly enjoy what this platform has to offer. Read on.
Stream with A VPN
Even with its fantastic streaming services, Disney Plus is not available worldwide, and those who are not within the 30 locations cannot enjoy it. There is a solution, though: you can access the services by connecting to a VPN server location that supports the service. Using a VPN to access your Disney Plus account will ensure you unlock all the geo-blocked content and watch all Disney shows and films from anywhere in the world.
Control Download Quality
Disney Plus automatically allows downloads only when you’re on Wi-Fi. However, if you don’t mind burning your data, you can enable the app to download, even when using cellular data. To do this, select your user icon and go to app settings. Turn off the Download Over Wi-Fi Only switch.
You can also select the quality of your downloaded content. Click on Download Quality and select between standard and high. Standard has the lowest quality but offers the fastest download, while high has the highest video quality but slow download speeds. You can also choose medium, which provides everything in moderation.
One more thing, take note of how much storage your downloads will take. Setting the quality too high may make your device run out of space and make it impossible to download anything.
Create a Kid’s Profile
While Disney Plus mostly offers kid-friendly content, some things are just not meant for children. To ensure your little one only watches what you want them to watch, make a kids’ profile that conceals the more mature content.
You can also designate your adult profile for your child by clicking your account icon and choosing edit profile. Click on your child’s account and launch the switch near Kids Profile. Save your changes, and the unsuitable stuff will disappear.
Check out the Extras
Before the emergence of various streaming services, buying a DVD was the only way to get the extras in a movie: trailers, commentary, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes, alternative cuts, and bloopers. Such kind of content is not available on other streaming platforms but Disney Plus. Most movies and TV shows on this platform include some sort of extra content. To see the additional content, select the movie you want to watch and go to the extras tab below the play button
Request shows
While Disney Plus has a lot to offer its subscribers, there are still numerous shows and films lacking on the platform. If you can’t locate the show or movie you are looking for and haven’t seen anywhere that it’s coming soon, you can request it to be brought to the platform. In the Disney Plus app, go to the Help Center, click give Feedback, and then select a show or film. You can pitch up to three shows at a time.
Search with the Correct Filter
Disney Plus offers a plethora of movies and TV shows, making it overwhelming to choose what to watch. There are two ways to solve this; either search by title or filter by genre. While on the Disney Plus platform on the web, hit the Movies or Series icon up top, but if on mobile, click the magnifying glass button on the navigation menu. Tap movies or series, and then click the “Featured” drop-down. You can then select different criteria such as Comedy, Kids, Documentary, or HDR or 4K options. To see everything available, select All Movies/Series A-Z.
Watch Disney Plus Collections
With a lot of content from different studios, Disney Plus has constructively arranged what is available on the platform into collections, with the most prominent brands (Disney, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and Star Wars) at the top. However, you can get more collections to sieve through by tapping into the search page.
Disney Plus is an excellent streaming service, and learning some tips and tricks about it will make you love the platform even more. We hope the above tips will help improve your viewing experience.
