Learn From the Experts at the AI & Big Data Expo in California!

Technology

6 Nov

AI and Big Data are such overused terms that they can now read as buzzwords. But IT decision-makers, developers, data officers, analysts, venture capitalists, and data scientists know that real advances are being made that broaden our knowledge and build the bottom line. If you identify as one of the above types of people, then there’s an exciting event coming up this fall that you should check out.

From Wednesday, November 13th to Thursday, November 14th, 2019, the AI & Big Data Expo North America will be returning to the Santa Clara Convention Center. With over 12,000 in attendance expected, the expo will showcase over 300 exhibitors with the likes of Oracle, IBM, Sony, and many others. Industry experts will also offer valuable insight through discussions about AI, Big Data, cybersecurity, IoT, blockchain, and 5G, just to mention a few topics.

Some of the key speakers this year include Adnan Boz, Lead AI Product Manager at eBay; Chandra Khatri, Senior AI Research Scientist at Uber; and Kuo-Ning Huang, Director of Data Science at LinkedIn.

Whether it is your first time attending the AI & Big Data Expo North America or you’ve been coming for years, we have compiled a brief guide to help you plan for your trip to the event at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Lodging

The expo has no specific recommended hotel for attendees, so you’ve got a lot of options for lodgings. One popular choice is the Avatar Hotel in Santa Clara. It bills itself as offering “techlicious fun,” with hipster geek and playtime chic. With a kitschy robot collection, fun décor, and a networking-friendly lounge, it should be a good place to connect.

The Hyatt House Santa Clara is another great option. The Hyatt offers guests a free breakfast buffet and complimentary Wi-Fi. It also has a pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and a business center. It’s a well-rounded choice that puts guests first.

Transportation

Hotel shuttle service is one option to get you to and from the convention center when staying at a nearby accommodation. Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is also less than 5 miles away, so you may be able to ride hotel shuttle service from the airport as well. Other transportation options would be getting a rental or the VTA (Valley Transportation Authority). This budget-friendly option will connect you to the Santa Clara Convention Center for your event and other attractions in the area.

Dining

If you are looking to grab a snack at the convention center, you can do so at Peet’s Coffee and Tea. If you are looking for other eateries, you can walk or take VTA’s light rail or bus service to the nearby Levi’s Stadium. There, you will find the Bourbon Pub and Blue Line Pizza restaurants. Further down on Tasman Drive, you will run into a Carl’s Jr and Mikayla’s Café. If you are craving Chipotle or Chick-fil-A, take a VTA bus to N 1st Street.

Attractions

Whether you come a day early or stay a few days after the AI & Big Data Expo North America, you can sightsee and experience other attractions Santa Clara has to offer. The Great America theme park is just across the street from the convention center, but it is only open on Saturdays in November. So if you are still in town by then, they are open from 10 AM to 6 PM. The 49ers will be playing against the Cardinals on the Sunday following the expo. If you won’t be able to make it to the theme park or the football game, consider a visit to Alviso Marina County Park if you want to hike, bike, or do some bird-watching.
