The horror genre never fails to catch our attention. Be it a Hollywood movie or a game, every avid gamer and movie fanatic thoroughly enjoys horror flicks and video games. Every year the realm of video games comes up with new and amazing titles. We have got AAA titles from the Resident Evil series and survival horror shaped by Outlast. These games face their releases across varied gaming platforms. Some end up being exclusive to PCs while some are released as PlayStation-exclusive titles. Amid all the new titles brewing up, Xbox One is yet to lose its charm as a notable console. It’s also head to head in competition with Sony’s PlayStation and never falters to land global hits on the platform.
Since we were talking specifically about the horror video game genre, here are some horror games available on Xbox One. Take a look!
Alien: Isolation
Xenomorphs weren’t the thing of nightmares on the big screen alone. You get to experience a 1v1 with one in an abandoned space station. There are no survivors. It’s just you, the Xenomorph and a flame thrower to slow it down from attacking you. Alien: Isolation is truly a stealth survival game. There’s not a lot of action or shooting involved. You have to be smart with your moves so that the alien does not hunt you down. The game gets difficult with every advancement you make so be on your toes and don’t falter!
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard deviated from the original roots of the franchise and it was successful in doing so. Set in third-person view, the game isn’t filled with excessive bits of action and nor does it involve mindless zombie-shooting. The visuals are eerie, the gameplay is challenging and you have to solve short missions to proceed further in the story. Capcom made a smart choice to set the gameplay in third-person view as it only intensifies the suspenseful elements of the game. You play as Ethan Winters, who is no Leon S. Kennedy, but a simple man who infiltrates into the Baker household to find his missing wife, Mia. But what unfolds in front of his eyes in the house will shrill you to the bone.
Resident Evil 2
Umbrella Corporation is brewing up another surprise for Raccoon City. Hit by the abomination, T-Virus, the city is in shambles already. But what’s lurking in the darkest alleys of Raccoon City is a tyrant created by Umbrella Corporation to annihilate the city for good. Oblivious to the scheme, Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy embark on a mission to rescue the remaining residents of Raccoon City. But their rescue operation doesn’t go as successfully as they expected it to go. If you haven’t played the game already, give Resident Evil 2 a try because we don’t want to give out any spoilers!
Outlast 2
Those who have played Outlast or have watched the game’s walkthroughs are familiar with its gameplay, story and mechanics. It’s expected for Outlast’s sequel to follow the same footpath but Outlast 2 doesn’t. Instead Red Barrels has taken a more novel approach to developing the game and their hard work paid off. The game’s not a miss. Outlast 2 is as eerie as the first game but this time it’s not set in an asylum rather you have to explore a village ridden with cults and turmoil. Will you be able to survive?
Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is a Steam favorite for PC gamers but the game has also secured a spot on the Xbox One console. A multiplayer competitive game, you can lobby up with your friends either as survivors or as notorious killers from popular horror movie franchises. You can be Leatherface or Freddy Krueger. Pick your role, your character and see how fast you can hunt down your friends. If you’ve picked the survivor role, know that each killer has a unique set of abilities so don’t get caught!
Get your game on!
Gore, gizmos and guns galore! There’s a horror game for every gamer on Xbox One. It’s either the survival of the fittest or a lot of stealth walking to avoid getting devoured by a Xenomorph. Choose your pick and get your game on! Some Xbox One games are cross-platform compatible and even support multiplayer gameplay. You can consider switching to Wow internet plans if your internet connection gives up on you halfway through a zombie wave. Do not lag out on your teammates. Until then happy gaming!
