Love it or hate it, smart televisions are here to stay. With features improving rapidly, whether you like it or not, your next TV will be a smart one. Smart TV’s offer a wealth of features and the advantages they over regular TV’s are too numerous to list. As more manufacturers climb aboard the smart TV train, the better the competition gets, and the more choice we as consumers have.
On the way out is the 1080p format we have become accustomed to. 4k is the new standard and besides stunning resolution, offers some other nifty advantages over full HD. Backlight technology has shifted too, favoring OLED or AMOLED over the tired and limited LCD.
If you are in the market for a new TV, you are presented with a huge amount of choice. Fortunately, we have put some TV’s through their paces and found the best of the bunch. Here are three of the best TV’s you can buy right now.
- Hisense 100L10E
At 100 inches this TV tops the list for size, but it’s color gamut and price really make it stand out. Hisense is a Chinese TV brand who have been making solid mid-range TV’s for a while now, and they have perfected the formula. At a hair over $10000, this TV set isn’t cheap, but for 100 inches of real estate, its priced at almost a third of what you will be paying in other brands.
The reason that this TV makes this list, however, is the downright awesome method in which this TV displays an image. LED and OLED TV’s top out around 80”, so for Hisense to deliver a 100-inch TV they used lasers. Yes, lasers! The dual lasers behind the screen act like a super high definition projector, delivering an unbelievably wide color gamut.
The 100L10E has some downsides though, being a laser projector, the image is not as bright as a comparable LED screen, and the smart interface is lackluster. These small gripes are trivial, a 100-inch laser TV for a third of the price of major brands? Yes please!
- Samsung 55” NU7100
This little beauty makes the list not because it’s the best in its field, but because the balance of quality and price is nigh on perfect. People who have owned Samsung TV’s before will know what to expect; beautiful screen, premium materials and the best interfaces in the business.
The NU7100 is no exception, with a bright 55” 4k panel, Samsung’s trademark svelte bezel and compatibility with all major streaming services. At under $900 you would be hard pressed to find a better TV at this price. Enough said!
- LG 65” C9 OLED
Rounding out our list is this stunner from LG. LG has been making the best OLED TV’s in the business for several years now, and they really nailed it with the C9. Bold rich colors and deep dark blacks make this TV a cinephile’s dream.
The C9 comes in a variety of sizes but we think the 65” is the best size for showing off the C9s amazing image engine. The interface is slick, and the remote is a step above offerings from other brands. There are TV’s with faster refresh rates sure, and the C9 isn’t exactly cheap, but if you want the best image quality no matter the cost, the C9 comes highly recommended.
No matter your taste or budget, there is a TV out there for you. Whether you are a big screen buff and want to bring the cinema experience to your lounge room, or you just need something cheap to watch the game on, the TV’s on our list are the best of the bunch.
