Whether you’re a busy parent or just have a very packed schedule in general because of work and other things, small household chores such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and gardening can sometimes seem too overwhelming to handle. They take up time that you could use for other important things such as meeting deadlines at work or spending quality time with your family. The good news is that there are a lot of things you can do to make doing laundry less stressful and easier on your schedule. Here are 3 tips!
Use A Dry Cleaner
Dry cleaning your clothing may seem like a thing of the past, but many people still get their clothing dry cleaned on a regular basis, and with good reason! It’s not super expensive, can save you a ton of time, is very convenient, and you will have the peace of mind of knowing that your clothes will come back to you perfectly clean and wrinkle free every single time. In some instances, it can even be better for your clothes than using a traditional washer and dryer. Most areas have many dry cleaners, so find one near your home and figure out what their hours, rates, and turn around times are and try it out for yourself.
Make A Schedule
If you have a large family, try making a schedule with chores on it. That way it won’t be you who has to do the laundry every single time it needs to get done, but there will instead be a rotation. Laundry is a great chore for even young kids to learn to do because it’s pretty easy and not dangerous. Just make sure you teach them about different detergents, which items can’t go in the dryer, keeping whites separated, etc. Once everyone in your household knows how to do it, make a schedule so that the laundry gets down on a regular basis.
Don’t Procrastinate
As when many other household responsibilities, procrastinating will only make things worse and take up more time in the long run when it comes to laundry. Don’t wait to do it until you have several loads to do. If you do, you’ll end up doing laundry all day on your day off and that’s not what you want! Try doing small, more manageable loads instead. This will take up much less time and is something you can do when you get home from work in the evening, instead of having to take up one of your precious days off just trying to get your clothes clean!
Leading a busy lifestyle is never easy, and can definitely make even the smallest chores seem unmanageable, but laundry doesn’t have to fall into that category! Just get family members to help out, take some of it to a dry cleaner, and stay on top of it!
